COVID-19 Emergency Grants Fund

The Social History Society has temporarily changed its funding schemes due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

We have decided to postpone the Grants for Events round scheduled for October 2020 and will redirect these funds to provide short-term hardship support for our community of social and cultural historians.

Professor Naomi Tadmor, chair of the Society, explained:

Strains owing to COVID-19 are negatively affecting historians, and especially early career scholars, in multiple ways. The committee was delighted to endorse this plan which signals our commitment to help. I encourage those eligible to apply.

The scheme is open to postgraduate researchers registered at a UK university, early career scholars (within three years of viva date), independent scholars and those working outside higher education institutions. Please see our funding pages for more details.
