Bursaries
We are offering fifteen bursaries to support postgraduates and early career scholars presenting at our 2024 conference.
To be eligible for a bursary, you must be either:
- Registered for a postgraduate degree (at any university); or
- Be within three years of completion of a PhD and without institutional support.
Each bursary will cover the full costs of registration and two nights bed and breakfast accommodation. This package is worth £265. Please note that we are not providing separate bursaries to cover travel costs.
To be considered for a bursary please complete the application form below before the deadline of noon on Monday 8 April. The applications will be judged by a committee led by our Honorary Secretary, Dr Jenni Hyde. All applicants will be notified of the decision by Friday 19 April 2024.
The ‘rationale of application’ should outline the basis for the application in no more than 500 words. If you have organised a panel, or if there is a specific networking opportunity presented by this conference, then you should include this in your statement.
We ask bursary applicants to book their place at the conference and any on-campus accommodation at the point of their application. Applicants should select the BACS payment method on checkout but leave the payment details blank. Orders will be kept on hold until the bursary competition closes. Successful applicants will then have their orders confirmed, and unsuccessful applicants will have the option to make a payment or cancel the original order.
Please contact socialhistorysoc@gmail.com if you have any questions.
