Records, Risk and Research: Changing Landscapes
10-3.30pm, 18 May 2020, British Academy, London
The landscape of archival research is changing. This is affecting archivists as well as historians and other users of archives. This one-day event seeks to increase mutual understanding across professional boundaries. Join us for panel presentations and interactive discussion around the risks for research using archives. Attendees will gain an insight into how they, as researchers, can collaborate with archivists in order to manage archival risk. The event will be of interest to all those who use archives in research, including historians, social and political scientists, geographers, archaeologists, engineers, heritage practitioners, museum and gallery professionals and others.
The full programme will be announced in due course. Confirmed speakers so far include: Gary Brannan (Borthwick Institute of Archives), Val Johnson (TNA), Sarah Hackett (Bath Spa University) and Arike Oke (Black Cultural Archives).
The event is sponsored by the British Academy and organised by the Records at Risk Steering Group. The event is free to event, and a light lunch will be provided.
