The annual Social History Society Conference is the largest gathering of social and cultural historians in the UK. In 2015 it was hosted by the University of Portsmouth.

A highlight of the conference was the plenary lecture from Jonathan Hyslop, Professor of Sociology at Colgate University, Hamilton, New York and a long-time member of the Johannesburg History Workshop.
