Committee Roles

Our committee is chosen by our membership and plays a vital role in shaping the society’s activities and priorities. Executive and Ordinary members usually serve for three years, with the AGM marking the point of changeover.

There were six vacancies this year, and a further change caused by Dr Jenni Hyde’s resignation as Honorary Secretary to resume her service as SHS administrator. To ensure continuity in the Executive as Professor Naomi Tadmor serves her final year as chair, the outgoing Communications Secretary Dr Henry Irving has agreed to be co-opted as Honorary Secretary for the period of 18 months after Jenni’s departure.

The new committee is as follows:

Chair – Professor Naomi Tadmor

Honorary Secretary – Dr Henry Irving

Treasurer – Dr Janet Weston

Communications Secretary – Dr Ella Sbaraini

EDI Secretary – Dr Daniel Grey

Ordinary Members – Dr Rachel Bright, Dr Esme Cleall, Dr Timothy Cooper, Dr Barbara Crosbie, Peter Edwards, Dr Jennifer Evans, Dr David Hitchcock, Dr Emma Marshall and Dr June Purvis

Postgraduate Representatives – Amy Stanning and Louise Bell

Ex-Officio Members – Dr Brodie Waddell (CaSH), Dr Mark Roodhouse and Professor Phillipp Schofield (Economic History Society)

We congratulate new members on their election and would like to thank the outgoing members, Professor Georgina Brewis, Professor Corinna Peniston-Bird and Professor Jonathan Saha, for their excellent service.
