The SHS is delighted to re-open the Public History Prize, established in 2019 as a mark of gratitude to our outgoing chair Professor Pamela Cox.
The prize is open to postgraduate or postdoctoral historians within a year of their viva. Applicants are required to demonstrate excellence in taking their research beyond the academy and are judged according to the initiative, impact and social benefit of their activities.
The inaugural prize was won by Dr Chad McDonald for the travelling exhibition James Parkes and the Age of Intolerance.
We recognised that the impact of COVID-19 means that the entries will be very different this year, but are determined to celebrate the creative responses shown despite the pandemic.
There are full details on the prize pages.
